Pack like the professionals
These are the same tips our team uses every week, so your things arrive safely and unpacking is quicker.
Start early, room by room
Start with the rooms you use least, like the loft, garage and spare room, and leave the kitchen and bedrooms until last. A room a day is far easier than a weekend of panic.
Use the right boxes
- Small boxes for heavy things: books, tins, tools and files.
- Big boxes for light things: bedding, cushions, towels and toys.
- Fill every box to the top so it doesn't crush when stacked, but keep it light enough to lift easily.
- Tape the bottom of every box twice.
Label everything
Write the room and a short list of what's inside on the side of each box, not just the top, so it's easy to read when boxes are stacked. Mark anything breakable as FRAGILE.
Packing the kitchen
- Wrap plates one by one and stand them on their edge, like records. They're much less likely to break that way.
- Wrap glasses individually and fill gaps with paper or tea towels.
- Tape lids on bottles and jars, and bag them in case they leak.
Wardrobes, beds and furniture
- Empty wardrobes before moving day. We move wardrobes whole wherever they fit, but we don't take them apart.
- On our Standard move, we take beds apart and rebuild them, and give you free wardrobe boxes so clothes can go straight across on their hangers.
- Take anything heavy or breakable out of drawers.
- If you take anything apart yourself, put screws in a labelled bag and tape it to the furniture.
TVs and electricals
Take a photo of the cables behind your TV before you unplug it, so it's easy to set up again. Keep remotes and cables together in one bag.
Keep these with you
Don't put passports, house documents, keys, jewellery, medicines, chargers or anything precious on the van. Keep them in a bag that travels with you.

Are there any hidden fees?
No. Your price covers everything you've told us about, including mileage, stairs, lifts, blankets, wrapping and insurance. There are no booking, admin or fuel charges. Your price only changes if your move changes, for example more to move or harder access on the day. Extra time is £100 per hour, and we always agree it with you first. If you've got less to move than you told us, let us know and we'll look at your price again.
Do I need to empty my drawers?
Take out anything heavy, breakable or valuable. Light, soft items like clothes can usually stay, but ask us if you're unsure about a particular piece of furniture.
Can you do the packing for me?
